Embracing digital wellbeing at Strawberry Sauce
In the current digital age, our love affair with technology may feel more like an endless saga than a fleeting romance. From the moment we wake up to the time we hit the pillow, screens are our constant companions. They entertain us, keep us informed, and help us work smarter. But, like any great love story, maintaining a healthy relationship requires balance and mindfulness.
Here at Strawberry Sauce, we are all about exploring the world of AI and emerging technology. We believe in bridging the digital divide and ensuring technology serves as a force for good. But we are also big advocates for digital wellbeing.
The question is, how do you keep the tech spark alive without letting screen time take over your life? Here are some handy hints and tips that our team find useful to help you strike that perfect balance.
1) We still like pen and paper!
Whilst there is an abundance of digital notebooks and reminder apps, the act of physically writing down thoughts, ideas, or a to-do list is something our founder Emma still enjoys. “I am a big fan of Microsoft Onenote, however I do love my paper notebook when having a coffee chat or watching a webinar. I find it helps maintain presence and removes digital distractions” she said.
2) Put your phone and camera down!
How often do you observe people around you snapping 100’s of photos on their phone of the same thing? Most of us have all be guilty of this! Our team at Strawberry Sauce consists of avid photographers who love that perfect shot, yet we remain mindful of how frustrating it is when your friends are more fixated on their phones than the conversation. We feel it is important to document mindfully, being present in the moment will provide you with a far more meaningful experience.
3) Schedule digital detox days
This one is difficult for our founders given their love of emerging technology and AI. Yet all of our founders dedicate a least half a day each week to unplug and remove our devices to spend time with our friends family, or enjoy alternate hobbies. We often schedule meetings in a cafe to avoid being stuck talking via our laptops or phones.
This leads onto our final tip from the team:
4) Prioritise face-to-face conversations.
Whilst technology helps keep us connected to family who live around the world, face-to-face conversations provide greater opportunity to connect. At Strawberry Sauce, we offer an online lunch or learn, however, we love the opportunity to meet and present face to face when possible. Our futurist Nick states that “not only does it help those struggling with the pace change of new technology to embrace the conversation, it also provides an opportunity for everyone to connect and gather.”
In essence, whilst we navigate the vast and ever-expanding digital landscape, finding the balance between our screen time and in person interactions is crucial. We believe at Strawberry Sauce that although technology offers incredible tools for productivity, communication, and exploration, the value of human connection, mindfulness, and unplugging cannot be understated.
