A beginners guide to: AI image generation
Why do we want to create a fake image??
In the world of creativity, AI is like a magic wand that turns ‘what if’ into ‘wow.’ It’s perfect for dreaming up scenes of crazy adventures and unbelievable stories. Can you imagine what a cityscape on Mars would look like? Or a unicorn prancing through your backyard? AI can bring these ideas to life. I’m still a huge fan of picking up a paintbrush and getting my hands dirty – yes, I do like to paint and I love original artwork.
So I agree, nothing is better than real creative art.
Nothing beats the satisfaction of creating something with your own two hands or owning an original piece from a local or renowned artist. But while my paintbrushes can’t conjure up a dragon perched in my back garden, AI can lean towards the outrageous. It encourages bold, blue-sky thinking, which is pretty awesome for brainstorming sessions, storyboarding, or just a good old ‘what would it look like if…’ game.
Let’s get started
If you are new to AI image generation, here is an example of how you can build your prompts to generate some fun pictures. If you are a novice, or just like things easy (like me), the best place to start is with Bing Image Creator, or ChatGPT.
Begin testing with a basic prompt: ‘A picture of a strawberry.’
It looks pretty good doesn’t it?
Now, let’s build on it and make it more specific and imaginative:
‘A picture of a giant strawberry in a field’
This adds a fun twist to the scene, making the strawberry unusually large.
You can build on this by adding more descriptions to the scene such as:
‘A picture of a giant strawberry in a field, with a tiny tree growing next to it and a cow looking on in surprise, with the moon in the sky.’
This adds another character and a touch of humor to the scene.
Finally, it is good to add a style to your image. This could be a cartoon, impressionist, pop art, abstract, or cubist. My final prompt could be: A picture of a giant strawberry in a field, with a tiny tree growing next to it and a cow looking on in surprise, with the moon in the sky, in the style of a cartoon.
The real power of AI image generation
While starting with fun and imaginative prompts is a great way to explore the capabilities of AI image generation, it’s important to remember that this technology has significant practical applications in the workplace as well. For instance, in industries such as advertising, architecture, and product design, AI can help to quickly generate a range of visual concepts, saving time and resources. It can also be used in brainstorming sessions to stimulate creative thinking and facilitate discussion. Moreover, in fields like education and training, AI-generated images can be used to create engaging and interactive learning materials. So, while it’s certainly enjoyable to create images of giant strawberries and surprised cows, remember that these are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the potential uses of AI image generation.
